Obituary of Roger Laporte
Roger Laporte, 75, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, after his battle with lung cancer.
Roger was born on October 4th, 1948, to Raymond and Leah Laporte in Leamington. Roger was the youngest of 3 and is preceded by his parents, and two older sisters, Annette (Lynch) Ilene (Bash). After graduation, he got his first job as a welder for FABCO. He loved it and would end up staying with FABCO for 38 years, rising through the ranks the entire time.
As a teen and young adult, Roger was an avid hockey player. He loved playing golf, bowling, and cribbage. Let’s not forget about one of his favorites, Euchre. You could find him playing with cousins and aunts and uncles in very intense games. According to Rog, the only way you played was slamming your cards on the table. Roger joined in many annual camping trips with his brother-in-law, and nephews. Roger was a lover of all animals and quickly became his new best friend. He shared a special bond with all our pets.
Roger is survived by his 3 daughters, Kari (James), Kristi (Shawn) and Bethany (Eric). Roger leaves behind 5 grandchildren; Nathan (Stefanie), Chelsea (Steven), Mackenzie, Collin (Alivia), Khloey, and Avery and 2 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, and Simone.
Per Roger’s wishes, he has been cremated and there will be no services. Roger requested that his 3 daughters spread his ashes together and separately on golf courses, by bodies of water, and memorable places that he enjoyed. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Roger’s name to your local hospice facility as they have been instrumental in our family’s comfort. The family would like to express their gratitude to all volunteers and caretakers — especially Jilan, Therese, Jessica, Emily, and Dr. Nate. Donations could also be made to your local humane society.
